The Global Network Initiative (GNI) and Global Partners Digital (GPD) have published a new summary infographic presenting key country perspectives from the report, The Road to WSIS+20: Key Country Perspectives in the Twenty-Year Review of the World Summit on the Information Society. This work is part of the Shaping the WSIS+20 Review for a Unified Internet Multistakeholderism (SWIUM) project, supported by the inaugural ICANN Grant Program.
The infographic offers a clear, accessible snapshot of how diverse governments – including those from Brazil, India, China, Russia, the UK, the EU, and several countries across Africa, Latin America, and South Asia – approach vital issues such as multistakeholderism, internet governance, and digital development priorities. It highlights both shared goals and differing viewpoints, providing an essential quick guide for stakeholders interested in the evolving global digital governance landscape.
The full report delves deeper into the positions and priorities of countries spanning Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ghana, India, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, China, the European Union, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Switzerland.
Twenty years after the original WSIS summits, the WSIS+20 review comes at a pivotal moment as emerging technologies, security challenges, and digital divides reshape the context for internet governance. This infographic and report aim to support informed engagement in ongoing discussions, helping to bridge divides and promote an inclusive, rights-based approach to the future of the internet.
