The Global Network Initiative (GNI) has issued a detailed set of recommendations to reform Sri Lanka’s Online Safety Act (OSA) 2024, highlighting key concerns about freedom of expression, privacy, and data protection. Drawing on international human rights law and GNI’s global Content Regulation and Human Rights Policy Brief, the recommendations call for greater transparency, proportionality, and independent oversight in digital governance.
“GNI welcomes IPANDETEC’s expertise monitoring and analyzing Internet policies and legislation with a focus on gender, cybersecurity, and data protection,” said GNI Executive Director Judith Lichtenberg.
